WORLD  POST DAY CELEBRATION                                                9th October, 2019

Today, world has become a global village. Communication and information technology plays a crucial role in bringing the world close together. The early means of communication was the postal service. The aim of celebrating world post day is to create awareness of the role of postal sector in people’s and businesses everyday lives and its contribution to the social and economic development of countries.

This postal service was first commenced in the Roman Empire by Cyrus the great in the 6th Century BC. The first official postal service was introduced by Roman Emperor Augustus (30 BC- 14AD). World postal day is celebrated every year on 9th October, the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union, which started in 1874 in Switzerland. World Post Day started in 1969. Ms. Lalitha, our English teacher shared facts and stories behind this communication channel in the morning assembly.She also told the students about the various changes that have taken place in the postal service. She also spoke about the hobby of philately.

The students of Grade I to V celebrated the world postal day on 10th October, 2019 by making Deepavali greetings on post cards and Inland letter cards. They were taken to the Ramjee Nagar Post Office, were they posted their letters in the post box. They also interacted with the post office staff, saw various types of letters, stamps etc. They were also given information about various services provided by the postal department. It was learning experience and a pleasurable day for the children.
