COMPETITION RULES YSS 2015-2016

CHROMA SPLASH (Paint your dreams) Time: 9.15 am – 10.15 am.

• Two students per category
Category 1 (grade 1 & 2) – TOPIC – (ANY ONE)
1. Rocket; 2. Forest; 3. Antartica
Category 2 (grade 3,4&5) – TOPICS – (ANY ONE)
1. Space; 2. Deforestation; 3. Submarine
Students have to bring their necessary painting kits. Only drawing sheet of quarter sized chart will be provided.

THINKING HATS! (Grade 3, 4 & 5) Time: 9.15 am – 10.45 am.

• Two students per grade
• 60 marks questionnaire from Science, Technology and Math comprising of Riddles, crossword puzzles, HOTs, Magic Squares, etc., to break it open.

CARE QUIZ Time: 10.00 am – 12.00 noon

Category 1 (grade 6,7 & 8) ; Category 2 (grade 9,10,11 & 12)

• 2 teams consisting of 3 members in each category.
• Quiz is based on General Knowledge, Science, Technology and Math.

EXPLORATORIUM (Reverse Engineering) Time: Prelims: 9.15 a.m. -9.45 a.m.
(Grade – 9, 10, 11, 12) Finals: 10.15 a.m. -12.15 p.m.

• 2 teams consisting of 3 members.
• The competition will be conducted in two phases: 1.Prelims 2. Finals
• Preliminary test will consist of a questionnaire based on STEM. Six teams will be selected for Finals.
• Finals: Students should dismantle the given object and reassemble it to the working condition.
• Students should carry their own star screwdrivers to dismantle the given object.

OFF THE CUFF (ADZAP) Time: 9.15 a.m
Category 1 (grade 6, 7 & 8); Category 2 (grade 9, 10, 11 & 12)

• One team consisting of six students in each category from a school.
• Teams have to market a scientific product of their own.
• Five minutes will be given to each team.
• The act should be only in English.
• Participants should bring their own requirement if needed for their act.
• No music is allowed.
• The performance must be decent with no vulgar act.

HAMMER OUT – Affirm or rebut a science topic Time: 10.00 a.m – 12.00 noon
• Category 1 (grade 6,7 & 8) ; Category 2 (grade 9,10,11 & 12)
• Two participants per school – one participant for the motion and one participant against the motion.
• No two students of the same school shall align to the same team.
• Topic of debate will be given on the spot.
• Usage of languages other than English is strictly prohibited.
• The event will be monitored by an adjudicator whose decisions cannot be refuted.

HEAD TRIP Time: Prelims: 9.15 a.m. – 9.45 a.m.
Finals: 10.15 a.m. – 12.15 p.m.
(Grade – 9, 10, 11&12)

• Three students per team and two teams from each school
• The competition will be conducted in two phases: 1.Prelims 2. Finals
• Preliminary test will consist of a questionnaire based on STEM. Six teams will be selected for Finals.
• Finals: Students should fabricate the designated target out of the materials provided.
• The target will be given on the spot.
• Students are advised to carry a tool kit for fabrication.

A representative from the school should accompany the students and students need to come with their I.D Cards and a Bonafide Certificate.
• Results will be announced that afternoon, so we request the students to bring their lunch (canteen facility is also available in the campus).
• The judges’ decision cannot be refuted.
• The students are requested to report at the venue by 8.00 a.m. on 01st August 2015.
• Valedictory and prize distribution will be held at 3.00 p.m. on the same day.
• Usage of cell phones inside the competition arena is forbidden, any one caught with cellphone will be disqualified immediately.
